‘Gender has never been a factor in any aspect of our practising architecture’
Promoting fairness and equality to sustain the best environment for creating great architecture has always been at the heart of SimpsonHaugh. Working closely together for over 30 years as equal partners, gender has never been a factor in any aspect of practising architecture for either Ian Simpson or me.
Industry findings have repeatedly shown that this is not the case for everyone. As architects, it is our responsibility to challenge the status quo when it so negatively impacts our peers and our profession. By continuing to support the Women in Architecture programme, we give a voice to those who have not experienced a nurturing environment, and together we influence our industry to harness fairness, equality and diversity.
Our team also benefits from being part of this movement by discovering inner confidence in speed mentoring sessions, experiencing solidarity at networking events, and being inspired by peers at the annual awards.
