Riviera-Chablais Hospital by Groupe-6

Most unusually for Switzerland, this acute treatment and emergency centre is being built to serve two adjoining cantons, Vau and Valais. The location was chosen both because of good motorway service, and because it was on the border between the two.

Designed on just three levels, so as not to loom over buildings in the adjacent village, the accommodation is stratified. All medical activities are on the lower two floors, which are enclosed in protective reflective glass. The top floor is dedicated to patient rooms which both look in to protected courtyards and look out to the mountain scenery beyond the valley floor.
