Emerging Chilean practive Duval + Vives is currently developing several projects that emphasise the use of wood
The young Chilean practive d+vA was established in 2009 and already has an impressive portfolio of residential projects under construction. Their work focuses mainly on the use of wood, an important natural resource in Chile that they feel is under used by contemporary architecture. At the Rupanco house two simple wooden forms overlay one another, one slightly skewed to articulate the different openings required for each interior space. At one end a staircase leads down to ground level, at the other a covered entrance connects with the top of the sloping site.
