AR New into Old awards shortlist revealed

New into old grid

A shortlist of 15 exciting and creative adaptive reuse projects from across the world has been selected by our panel of judges including Michael and Patty Hopkins, Lyndon Neri and Timothy Brittain-Catlin

We are delighted to reveal the 15 projects shortlisted for the AR New into Old awards. The shortlist was selected by our esteemed jury, which includes British architects Michael and Patty Hopkins, co-founder of Neri & Hu, Lyndon Neri, and deputy chairman of the Twentieth Century Society, Timothy Brittain-Catlin.

The Architectural Review has long championed creative reuse, and the subject has become of significant new interest because of the carbon implications of retrofit rather than replacement. This new award celebrates the successful adaptation of original architecture to contemporary functions as well as the varied remodelling strategies, such as innovative insertions, that make imaginative reuse possible.

The winning project along with any highly commended projects and finalists will be announced and published in the AR’s December/January issue at the end of the year.

International in scope and propositional in outlook, the AR Awards commend and celebrate design excellence and innovation. The Architectural Review is at the heart of global architecture and this exciting awards programme seeks out transformative, leading-edge projects from around the world.
