Barcelona-based CODINA's woven wire cloth

CODINA specialise in the manufacture of woven wire cloth, a hard wearing and dynamic material that has provided the Film Theatre of Catalonia with a unique blend of privacy and opacity

Established more than a century ago, Barcelona-based CODINA manufactures woven wire cloth for a broad spectrum of applications. CODINA also specialises in the manufacture of metal mesh for design and architecture.

The Creative Metals range finds new solutions in terms of aesthetics and functionality, with facades, cladding, curtains and ceilings all in a wide range of materials and finishes. CODINA works with architects, designers and specifiers to devise custom-made solutions to project requirements. Consistently high standards of quality and technological innovation rank CODINA highly among its competitors.

The company’s commitment to the most modern technology and customer service puts CODINA in an outstanding position within European and global markets. CODINA Creative Metals opens up new creative and functional possibilities for architects, engineers and designers.

To cover, to coat, to close, to modify climate and to create surprising volumes: these are just a few applications for this innovative and adaptable system. CODINA offers combined weave meshes with different densities and finishes.

Josep Lluís Mateo, architect of the new Film Theatre of Catalonia (reviewed in this issue of the AR) collaborated with CODINA on the design of one of its main facades, which used five mesh densities woven together in a single panel to achieve the desired level of opacity.
