Jane Drew Prize 2017 winner Denise Scott Brown on sexism, prizes, low architectural pay and the fight for self-esteem
This exclusive interview, filmed at Scott Brown’s home, was first shown at the Women in Architecture luncheon at Claridge’s on Friday 3 March. In it, Scott Brown tells how the petition to have her retrospectively awarded the Pritzker Prize has brought ’happiness to her old age’.
Scott Brown also looks back on a life in academia and architecture, from her days in architecture school, to teaching with Robert Venturi and finallly working in practice, exposing the roots of seminal ideas explored in her writing.
Scott Brown also thanks The Architectural Review and the Architects’ Journal for their part in the Jane Drew Prize: ‘Your attitude and your positive energy has led to so much.’
