PRODUCTORA: ‘We first make a site model and then we play with it’

Who are you?
We are Abel Perles, Carlos Bedoya, Victor Jaime and Wonne Ickx, co-founders of PRODUCTORA.

What kind of work do you do?
From small installations and exhibitions to private residences, housing and office buildings. And now our first museum.

What project are you most proud of and why?
Our winning entry for the Cultural Auditorium in Cuernavaca competition: a 900-seat theatre built on the foundations of a pre-existing building, making for a powerful geometric structure in front of an archaeological site.

What is unique about your work?
We like to think we create clearly legible projects, precise geometries with limited gestures.

What is your favourite building material?
Bricks and concrete.

What are your favourite design tools?
Physical models.

How do you get ideas?
We first make a site model and then we play with it. We look for a simple set of rules that can orchestrate a building.

What do you want to be remembered for?
For our consistency and ethical attitude. For not giving in to superficial trends.
