Petar Bojović, Marko Petrović and Miloš Paunović's Kindergarten in Belgrade, Serbia

A solid form responds to the fragmented nature of Bežanijska kosa

Selected as part of a competition for five new kindergarten buildings in Belgrade, the young team reacted to the fragmented nature of Bežanijska kosa’s residential blocks by creating a single white volume with a strong connection to an adjacent field. Connections to this field occur in the atrium, rooftop terrace and an embankment, which help create a flow from the outside into the ground floor where children can play. The team felt its simplicity and size would communicate its public role, the spaces left largely white to create a backdrop that allows the children to slowly create their own coloured environment.
