A semi-translucent skin lends a ghostlike appearance to this sweetener production plant
The lightness of the factory is given a diaphanous quality in this sweetener production plant. Max-A has employed the most economical means to subtly transform a roadside shed into something more sensuous: the building envelope is developed from three superimposed volumes, carved at the base to create an entrance porch at the front and delivery bay at the rear. The whole is transfixed by the central element of the structure, which houses the vertically oriented production process. The exterior treatment is semi-translucent, almost ghostlike: the steel frame is shrouded in perforated metal plates, and the building glows after dark.
